A preliminary hearing was held in Jerome County yesterday for a man who’s been charged with several felonies and is accused of wounding a Jerome city police officer.  Charges against Mark Taylor include aggravated battery, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.  Taylor is accused of leading police on a high speed chase on February 7th that led to speeds of over 100 miles per hour.  He’s also accused of shooting Jerome police officer Dennis Clark.  Clark testified at the hearing that he had been shot in the face with a shotgun that has resulted in him being blind in his left eye for the rest of his life.   At this point Clark has had three surgeries on his eye.
