Jerome, Wendell Students to Perform at CSI Jazz Concert
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – If you like jazz, you’ll like this upcoming event at the College of Southern Idaho.
The CSI Jazz Ensemble will present a collaborative concert with the jazz bands from Jerome and Wendell high schools at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 in the college’s Fine Arts Theater.
Each group will perform a short program and then perform as a combined ensemble under the direction of Brent Jensen, CSI’s director of Jazz Studies.
According to information from the college,
Vocalist Emilee Gomske will be featured with the CSI Jazz Ensemble on an arrangement of George Gershwin’s “But Not For Me” and Kenny Wheeler’s “Gentle Piece.”
The Jerome High School jazz band, under the direction of Hiroshi Fukuoka and the Wendell High School jazz band, under the direction of D. J. McCarty will each present individual programs before collaborating with the CSI Jazz Ensemble to perform Sammy Nestico’s “Orange Sherbet,” Gene Thorne’s “Walnut Creek” and Paul White’s “Synonymic Bossa.”
The concert is free, but the college suggests a $10 donation at the door to benefit the Jerome and Wendell band programs.
