BOISE, Idaho (KTVB) -- The defense team for a Boise man convicted of stockpiling explosive components and sending aid to a terrorist group has asked a federal judge to acquit the defendant on all charges.

Fazliddin Kurbanov, 33, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist organization, one count of attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization and one count of possession of an unregistered destructive device Aug. 12 after a trial that lasted nearly five weeks.

The jury acquitted him on two additional charges: Conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist organization and attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization. Kurbanov, who came to Boise as a refugee from Uzbekistan in 2009, reached out to members of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan online, asking for help planning an attack against the U.S.

He also sought out online videos instructing how to build bombs and bought explosive supplies including Tannerite, ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder, which he stored in the Curtis Road apartment he shared with his family.
