South Hills, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV )-The slopes of Magic Mountain were lively with eager skiers and snowboarders welcoming the start of the 2014 season. Lack of snow prevented the mountain from getting an early start. Resort owner Gary Miller notes, “It's always bad when you don't get to open before the Christmas break. We really need that. It's probably the biggest part of our income, our business part. But you know what, we'll take it anytime we can get it. We're happy we got snow now and everyone's happy.” Wade Rast, head director of ski patrol, adds, ‘we're at least one month late this year. We have no snow making, so when we get it we're going to open but we're going to make sure it’s safe.” A chairlift, magic carpet, and terrain park are now open to the public.
