Rupert, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - A recent investment by the Rupert Police Department is hoping to help officers in the event of controversy. In times of conflict, it can be difficult to know the real story.

Body cameras work to solve that problem by showing exactly how an event occurred. The Rupert Police Department has actually used body cameras for six years, but in the last month they upgraded their equipment to include the latest technology. The cameras record in HD, they pick up sound, and they also have an LED light for getting footage in the dark.

Each body camera costs roughly 300 dollars but the Rupert Police Department was given them through a Homeland Security Grant. In total there are ten in the department for investigators and patrol officers.
