BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a man who was pulled from the Boise River in Garden City has died at a hospital.

The Idaho Statesman reports that police say the man had been in the water for about an hour from when he was first spotted until he was pulled out. Police had responded after receiving a report that a man in the river had been in apparent distress.

While searching the area, police say they received another call about a body floating in the river. The Boise Fire Department had deployed a rescue boat and dive team and were eventually able to locate the man.

Fire spokeswoman Tammy Barry says the man had been in cardiac arrest when he was pulled from the river. The incident remains under investigation.
