'Man of Steel' will feature a post-credits scene cameo from Joseph Gordon-Levitt who will introduce himself as the new Batman! That was the sexy rumor from late-2012 and the explanation for how Warner Bros. would kickstart the 'Justice League' buzz. Unfortunately it's not true.

Back in November, HitFix reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would "absolutely" be starring as Batman in the planned 'Justice League' movie and that Gordon-Levitt was working on a deal to appear as Batman even before 'Justice League.' As we heard yesterday, the Batman reboot won't happen until 2017 at the earliest and that would leave 'Man of Steel' as the only DC superhero movie before 'Justice League' and the only logical landing place for the Batman appearance.

But Joseph Gordon-Levitt himself swears it isn't true. In fact, he hadn't even heard the rumor. The actor was at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival promoting his directorial debut 'Don Jon's Addiction' (read our review here) and was asked by MTV about the possibility of a cameo in 'Man of Steel' and he said:

I hadn't heard that one. It just goes to show how much you can believe rumors. I don't think you should believe in any of them. If there's something I'm going to be in, I'm going to tell you about it.

Of course, Gordon-Levitt could just be playing coy and protecting the surprise but we're inclined to believe the actor's claims. What do you think? Should Batman (whether it's Joseph Gordon-Levitt or another actor) cameo in 'Man of Steel' or should they wait for a proper introduction in 'Justice League?'
