BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in southwestern Idaho have confirmed that a man found dead next to a totaled vehicle that had gone off Bogus Basin Road is a Caldwell resident who had been reported missing.

Boise County Coroner Pam Garlock on Friday identified 26-year-old Eian Wintz as the person found near a car that had gone 300 feet down a slope. Wintz had been reported missing Tuesday.

The vehicle was spotted Thursday and the body recovered Thursday evening. Chief Deputy Boise County Coroner Mike Johnson tells the Idaho Statesman that Wintz was thrown from the vehicle and died as a result of the crash. An autopsy is planned.
