McCall Voters to Decide on Minimum Wage

MCCALL, Idaho (AP) — A resort town of nearly 3,000 people could become the first city in Idaho to adopt a minimum wage.

KBOI-TV reports that voters in McCall, about 100 miles north of Boise, will decide whether to approve the ballot initiative Tuesday. If approved, the minimum wage would be raised from $7.25 an hour to $8.75 on Jan. 1. In 2017, the wage would be raised to $10.25.

The minimum wage for workers who get tips would also increase. State law allows the City Council to pass the initiative itself, but McCall officials have decided to put the issue up for a vote.
