Message Sign Installation Begins Monday on U.S. Highway 93

TWIN FALLS, Idaho  (KLIX) – Work will begin on Monday to install a dynamic message sign for southbound drivers along U.S. Highway 93  between Interstate 84 and the Twin Falls County line.

The installation process will cause a road shoulder closure that will have limited impact on traffic. The permanent message sign will alert drivers to traffic alerts, safety messages and other highway issues.

Cost of installation is $313,357, according to the Idaho Transportation Department. Work, performed by Boise-based Quality Electric Inc., is expected to be wrapped up by the end of April.

“The project was originally scheduled to be funded and constructed in 2017,” reads the ITD news release issued Thursday afternoon. “However, with project plans already completed, the project was advanced by the Idaho Transportation Board to take advantage of increased funding allocated by the 2015 Idaho Legislature.

“This is one of 27 statewide projects selected last year to be advanced based on readiness and the critical need to improve roadway safety.”
