CASSIA COUNTY, Idaho (KTVB) -- The Cassia County Sheriff's Office says a 10-year-old was accidentally shot during a family hunting trip Sunday. Deputies responded just after 10 a.m. to the Jackson area near the Minidoka Dam for an accident involving a firearm.

A 10-year-old girl was injured and taken to Minidoka Memorial Hospital.  She was later taken by air ambulance to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  No word on her condition. Sheriff Jay Heward says the girl fell while hunting doves. She was carrying a .410 bolt action shotgun that accidentally discharged. She suffered partial injuries to her face and head.

We are told the family is from the Mini-Cassia area, but no names have been released. The Cassia County Sheriff's Office is using this incident to urge hunters to be safe when handling guns.
