BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A hunter missing for five days in north-central Idaho has been found alive.

The Idaho County Sheriff's Office says searchers found 53-year-old Joseph S. Salas of Boise at about 11 a.m. Thursday at a cabin in the Payette National Forest.

Authorities called for a helicopter from Kalispell, Montana, to take Salas from the remote area to a waiting ambulance and then to St. Luke's McCall Medical Center to be treated for a foot injury.

His brother, Tony Salas, says Joseph Salas was with a group of hunters when he started tracking an elk and disappeared.
