IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The body of an Idaho Falls rafter who went missing in the South Fork of the Snake River two weeks ago has been recovered near Roberts.

Jefferson County Sheriff Blair Olson tells KIFI-TV that the water master of the Butte Market Lake Canal spotted a body near a head gate at about 8 a.m. Sunday. The body was recovered about 20 miles downstream from where Mason Empey was last seen on June 29.

Investigators say Empey fell into the water near Rigby when he tried to retrieve an oar and was swept downstream. Olsen says the body was identified as Empey.
