GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The son of a North Dakota woman whose remains were found in Idaho years after her disappearance says the discovery is bringing some closure to the family. Donald Dumontet's mother, Florence, vanished while driving to Washington state in October 2011. Her vehicle and part of her remains were found in northwest Idaho last week after hikers discovered her prosthetic knee. Dumontet says he had wondered about what happened to his mother every day since she disappeared. He says the family is "very relieved" that their ordeal is finally over. Florence Dumontet, of Ardoch, disappeared during an annual 2,000-mile, 20-hour trek to visit her children in Shelton, Washington. The Grand Forks Sheriff's Office on Monday said authorities suspect Florence Dumontet was ejected from her vehicle when it accidentally left Interstate 90 during icy road conditions.
