Just as Idaho troops are returning home from Iraq, the Idaho Army National Guard announces they are preparing to send more troops to Afghanistan.  The U.S. Department of Defense is sending 60 Idaho soldiers from the Army National Guard Company A 1-168 General Services Aviation Battalion to Afghanistan for a 12 month deployment.  Idaho’s News Channel 7 in Boise reports that the The soldiers will leave for Fort Hood, Texas, in April of 2012 for two months of training.  In June, they will make their way to Afghanistan. This is the unit's first deployment since Operation Enduring Freedom began. The deployment will include 80 Black Hawk helicopters.  Nearly all of the soldiers that will deploying in April are from the Treasure Valley.
