Work has started on the second phase of the reconstruction of the on and off ramp on exit 173. Crews will begin to realign the on and off ramps at the I-84 and Highway 93 interchange. Crews will also install a new light farther south of the exit as well as replace the eastbound overpass. It will be longer and higher. Idaho Transportation Department spokesperson Nathan Jerke says most drivers will not be affected for a few months. Traffic on I-84 will be shifted to the westbound lanes. Also, crews will be blasting rock on State owned lands that run parallel with highway 93 between the interstate and Golf Course Road.  The first phase was completed in 2003, but the second phase was delayed. The project is being done by a Boise Contractor and is costing $11.8 million dollars. Completion is expected in October.
