SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Mormon missionary wounded in the Brussels airport attack has left the hospital and returned to his southern Utah home.

University of Utah Hospital spokeswoman Kathy Wilets said Thursday that 20-year-old Joseph "Dres" Empey was released this week. He suffered second-degree burns and other injuries March 22.

He was one of three American missionaries seriously injured when explosions ripped through the Brussels airport as they accompanied a French woman set to fly to the U.S. for her mission.

The other injured missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints remain hospitalized. The Deseret News reports that a large gathering of friends and family greeted Empey when he arrived to his house in Santa Clara on Wednesday. The city is near St. George, Utah.
