MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho State Police says a 39-year-old man died when a sport utility vehicle turned in front of his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 95 in west-central Idaho.

The ISP says the motorcycle was southbound at about 4 p.m. Wednesday south of New Meadows when a northbound SUV turned left in front of the bike. The motorcycle struck the side of the SUV and the rider died at the scene.

He was wearing a helmet. His name was being withheld until family members could be notified. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital in McCall.
