MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (AP) — Police in the southwest Idaho city of Mountain Home on Thursday stationed officers at the high school and junior high after a threat of a school shooting. Mountain Home Police Officer Melanie Broughton says someone posted an anonymous message on a social media site called Whisper on Wednesday. The post said the individual overheard two others on a school bus talking about "shooting up the school." Broughton says police are trying to find out who made the post. She says the post hasn't been substantiated, but police are taking it seriously.

She also says the post has caused some parents to keep their children at home, but it's not clear how many students are staying away. The Mountain Home School District declined to comment to The Associated Press on Thursday.
