Mountain Lion Sighting Prompts Caution from Idaho Fish and Game

BOISE, Idaho (KLIX) A recent sighting of a mountain lion in a Boise neighborhood has prompted state wildlife officials to caution the public and offer tips for dealing with the wild animals.

According to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, a resident in the Table Rock area reported seeing a mountain lion this week. Idaho Fish and Game says most encounters with the large roaming cats are brief and nonthreatening.

In March last year a teenager and his dog encountered a mountain lion hiding in brush near Buhl along the Snake River. The dog was injured when it went after the mountain lion which swatted at it.The teen credited the dog for saving his life.

Also last year inĀ April, a mountain lion grabbed a 4-year-old girl that was camping with her family near Rexburg. Adults were able to scare the big cat away and the little girl only had minor injuries.
