SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho man whose son-in-law bailed him out of jail in a felony assault case is now charged with shooting at his son-in-law when he came to pick him up for court.

The Bonner County Daily Bee reports David Robert Brinkmeyer was arrested Wednesday after the son-in-law said Brinkmeyer shot at him when he arrived at his house to make sure he got to court. Brinkmeyer was charged with assault with intent to commit murder and jailed on $500,000 bail.

Court records say the son-in-law told investigators he learned from Brinkmeyer's ex-wife that he had no intention of attending his preliminary hearing after being charged with shooting at the occupants of a pickup truck when they drove by his house to gain access to the Priest River.
