POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Two people died and seven were injured in a two-vehicle crash on icy Interstate 15 in southwestern Idaho on New Year's Eve. The Idaho State Police says the driver of a southbound car lost control on the icy roads near Inkom, southeast of Pocatello.

The car went through the median and into the northbound lane, where it hit a pickup at about 9:45 p.m. Two passengers in the car died at the scene.

The ISP identified them as 21-year-old Jacob Arnold and 19-year-old Nicolas Bozorg-Omid, both of Pocatello. The driver of the car — 19-year-old Andre Lopez of Chubbuck — and two other passengers were taken to the hospital. The occupants of the pickup — Richard and Marcia Kmetz of Bonner, Mont., and their two children — also were taken to the hospital in Pocatello.
