COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (KTVB) -- Eight women and one man were arrested during a two-night law enforcement operation targeting prostitution at the Coeur d'Alene Casino.

Casino managers asked the police for help after seeing an upswing in activities, which indicated that prostitutes were operating in the area.

Six of the eight women arrested for prostitution were from Washington. Four were from Spokane, one was from Medical Lake and another from Pullman. They ranged in age from 18 to 46.

The only man arrested in the sting was from Richland, Washington. He was charged with solicitation of prostitution.

Officials said they hoped to reduce the number of prostitutes operating in Kootenai County. The sheriff's office worked with Coeur d'Alene Tribal Police and the FBI because the casino is within tribal jurisdiction.
