WALLACE, Idaho (AP) — The Shoshone County sheriff's office says a 61-year-old woman has died while skiing at Lookout Pass north of Wallace, Idaho.

The Spokesman-Review newspaper of Spokane, Wash., reports that the sheriff's office says Mary Jane Bair, of Silverton, Idaho, apparently hit a tree on Sunday. The sheriff's office, along with relatives and friends, began searching for her late Sunday night at the ski area after she failed to return from skiing.

Sheriff Mitch Alexander says the woman was found a short distance into the timber off a run called Rainbow Ridge on the ski area's south side. The sheriff's office says Bair was an accomplished skier and was wearing a helmet, but likely lost control.
