‘Now You See Me 2′ is in the Cards

In a summer filled with extremely expensive films falling on their faces, the reasonably budgeted magician thriller 'Now You See Me' has proven itself to be one of the biggest successes of the year. And you know what this means, right? A sequel is already being planned, of course. If we're lucky, they'll have the nerve to call it 'Now You Don't' or 'Now You See Me Again' or 'Look Who's Seeing Me Now.'

The Hollywood Reporter says that 'Now You See Me 2' is officially in the planning stages. In case you missed it, 'Now You See Me' starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Isla Fisher as magicians who use their stage act to pull off elaborate heists. Michael Caine played their wealthy benefactor, Morgan Freeman a magic debunker and Mark Ruffalo the cop trying to figure all of it out.

As of this moment, the film has grossed $233 million worldwide on a $75 million budget, which is pretty terrific (and proof that not every Hollywood release needs to cost $200 million). Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has said that he expects the film to reach $275 million when all is said and done. That's a nice chunk of change.

Details about the sequel remain under wraps because there are no details to report (yet). We'll surely hear more in the coming months as a writer gets hired and we learn if director Louis Leterrier and the cast will return (count on it). We personally hope the sequel finds a way to top the original. Maybe they can use magic to hijack the International Space Station.
