Paul, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - One man is in custody following a shooting in a potato field near Paul, Idaho, Tuesday around 12:15pm. According to Minidoka County Sheriff Eric Snarr the investigation centered around a field near 1050 West and 700 North.
According to the sheriff, they located Encornacion Duarte-Jabalera, 31 of Paul, Idaho lying on the ground near a tractor.

According to the news release from the sheriff’s office, he had allegedly been shot by a fellow co-worker who was working in the field. Duarte-Jabalera was taken to the Minidoka Memorial hospital and later was life flighted to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

Officers say they located a work vehicle of Rogelio Munoz Chavez, 36 of Paul, at 375 West and 320 North in Rupert. Munoz-Chavez was found about a half mile northeast of that location hiding in some sagebrush.

Authorities arrested Munoz Chavez on an aggravated battery charge. According to Sheriff Snarr, the suspect will be arraigned in court today charged with Aggravated Battery with a weapons enhancement.

The sheriff did not release the circumstances that lead up to the shooting.
