On Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 6:42 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash in Jerome County.

 

Chase Jensen, age 17 of Wendell, was driving westbound on 100 South in a 2001 Ford Ranger.  Maria Godoy Guzman,40 of Jerome, was driving northbound on 200 West in a 1999 Ford Taurus.  Jensen failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection, and collided with the right front passenger side of the Ford Taurus.  Both vehicles came to rest in the field in the northwest corner of the intersection.

 

Both Jensen and his passenger, Valentin Tobias, 19 of Wendell, were not wearing seatbelts. Jensen was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls. Tobias was not injured.

 

The Ford Taurus had five occupants.   The right front passenger, Camerina Hernandez, 51 of Jerome, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.  She was not wearing a seatbelt.   Three juvenile females were sitting in the back seat; it is unknown at this time if they were wearing seatbelts.  Perla Hernandez, age 12, and Valerie Gonzalez, age 6, were both transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.   Godoy Guzman and another passenger, Kristy Gonzalez, age 10, were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.   Godoy Guzman was wearing her seatbelt.

 

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
