(KLIX)- A number of concerned citizens said no to a proposed expansion of a homeless shelter in Twin Falls. At the same time others expressed the need for such a facility. The Twin Falls City Council held a public hearing for a special use permit Monday night for the church based drug rehab and shelter Victory Home. The pastor Tony Lopez currently operates a 16 bed shelter on third avenue. His plans are to acquire a building from Twin Falls County near the old hospital. There he intends to operate a roughly 100 bed shelter and drug rehab program. That has raised concerns from surrounding home owners and business owners, mainly medical practitioners. Several doctors hired legal council to appeal the Planing and Zoning's decision to pass the special use permit. The city will wait until August before making a decision.
