Oregon Cities Ban Medical Marijuana Use

BEND, Ore.(AP) -- Nearly 60 percent of Oregon cities and about 70 percent of the state's counties have adopted temporary bans on medical marijuana dispensaries after a new state law created a window for officials to pass moratoriums. The Bend Bulletin reports that 142 of 242 cities and 26 of 36 counties had reported moratoriums banning the pot shops to the Oregon Healthy Authority by Friday. The agency expects to continue receiving more notices. The Legislature approved a measure in early March giving cities and counties until May 1 to adopt one-year moratoriums to keep the pot shops from opening within their borders.
