He’s been called the world’s bestselling novelist, and now he is teaming with a former president to write a suspenseful thriller that, among other things, promises to be a “behind-the-scenes global drama.”

James Patterson, author of the widely popular Alex Cross series, and former U.S. President Bill Clinton are collaborating on a new thriller called “The President is Missing.”

It’s an interesting partnership, but one that makes the project itself intriguing.

Patterson brings to the table the storyteller’s craft, while Clinton, who also has had success in the publishing arena with his memoir “My Life,” brings his insight and experience of what it’s like to be president of the world’s superpower.

Their collaborative book will be published under “an unusual joint release” by two publishing houses, according to a report by the Associated Press. Clinton’s publisher Alfred A. Knopf and Patterson’s publisher Little, Brown and Co. told the AP that the book is planned for a June 2018 release.

The title hints at the topic, but as with any good story there’ll be plenty of twists and subplots. The publishers call the novel “a unique amalgam of intrigue, suspense and behind-the-scenes global drama from the highest corridors of power. It will be informed by details that only a president can know.”

I think I’ll check it out. How about you?

Patterson, like many popular authors writing today, is known for his continuing characters. He has several series to his name, and in recent years has collaborated with a number of other authors. His most popular is the Alex Cross series, about a detective and psychologist who solves modern-day crime.

If you’re a Patterson fan, I’d like to know what your favorite book is in the Cross series. Like one of his other books better? I'd like to know that, too. Comment below.
