BOISE, Idaho (KTVB) -- The National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report about a small airplane that landed on Interstate 84 in Boise earlier this month.

Federal investigators say the pilot stated that he was distracted in the cockpit and failed to switch gas tanks during the flight as he had planned. The report did not explain the distraction.

According to the report, about one mile from the Boise Airport the plane's engine surged and then lost power. The pilot stated that he quickly evaluated the possible landing sites and decided to land on an interstate. No one was injured during the emergency landing.
