It was only recently announced that Disney's 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' hired a writer and  is definitely moving forward, and now the powers that be have confirmed a release date for the latest installment.

Disney has announced official release dates for several of its upcoming films, including 'The Muppets 2,' which will hit theaters on March 21, 2014, and 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5,' which is scheduled for July 10, 2015. That gives them plenty of time to film the latest installment in the franchise, which is being written by 'Catch Me if You Can' scribe Jeff Nathanson.

Jerry Bruckheimer is producing once again and Johnny Depp will indeed return to star as Captain Jack Sparrow, a role that he's definitely made his own over the years. The first four films have grossed a total of $3.7 billion worldwide, so it doesn't look like they'll be casting the anchor on this ship anytime soon.

There's no word yet on who might join Depp for this latest adventure, though the script was reportedly said to be complete back in May of 2011, written by Terry Rossio, who co-wrote the first four films. Apparently that's not the case and Nathanson is hard at work on the script for the fifth film now.
