(KLIX)- Twin Falls City Police are taking aim at illegal fireworks being used in the city. The police department is aiming to update an aged fireworks ordinance. Police have expressed frustration at the increased use of illegal fireworks during the fourth of July. The blame a state law that allows the sale of illegal fireworks. Police say enforcement is difficult when so many people are using them. Councilman and former police chief Jim Munn said if it take more over time to solve the problem then he’s all for it. Some of the proposed changes is to get neighboring counties to join in on a cooperative effort. Also, set a time that would limit the hours people are allowed to use fireworks and increase enforcement and education. Many of the illegal fireworks being used are large aerial mortars and ones that explode.
