‘Portlandia’ Seasons 4 and 5: IFC Renews for Two More Years
'SNL' vet Fred Armisen may have left the long-running, late-night comedy for good this past season, but he won't be hurting for work any time soon. IFC has granted an additional two seasons to its critically adored sketch comedy series, 'Portlandia,' to air in 2014 and 2015 respectively, but will the series come to a conclusion thereafter?
Both seasons will consist of 10 episodes apiece, while IFC President and General Manager Jennifer Caserta had this to say of the Friday night comedy's two-season renewal: “'Portlandia' has celebrated sustainable local agriculture, underemployment, avian crafting, gender politics, intense bicycle messengers and so much more. We can now celebrate two more seasons.”
The quirky series wrapped its third season this past March, which featured an impressive guest roster with the likes of Juliette Lewis, Patton Oswalt, Rose Byrne, George Wendt, ‘SNL’ stars Bill Hader and Bobby Moynihan, Jim Gaffigan, Matt Berry, Matt Lucas, J. Mascis, Dirty Projectors, Martina Navratilova and Chloe Sevigny, plus return spots from Kyle MacLachlan, Jeff Goldblum and Kumail Nanjiani.
However, might 'Portlandia' season 5 prove to be the final outing for the series in 2015? "Five seasons intuitively feels like the right amount of time for 'Portlandia' to be around," said series star Carrie Brownstein in an NPR interview. "I always think people overstay their welcome. It's better to leave people wanting more. But you never know."
