FAIRFIELD, Idaho (KLIX) – The public is invited to review and comment on proposed reconstruction bridge projects along U.S. Highway 20 in Blaine and Camas counties.

Two public open house meetings are scheduled:

  • 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, Camas County Senior & Community Center, 129 W. Willow Ave., Fairfield
  • 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, Bellevue City Hall, 115 East Pine Street, Bellevue.

The projects will replace aging culvert and fill crossings at Willow Creek and Rock Creek with bridges, according to the Idaho Transportation Department. Construction of both crossings could start in late 2018 and take 12 to 18 months at each site.

According to ITD,

The purpose of the project is to replace each crossing due to differing factors. The Willow Creek crossing (milepost 164.5) in Camas County, installed in 1954, has significant deterioration to the existing culvert pipe and is being undermined at each end of the pipe. The Rock Creek culvert crossing (milepost 173) in Blaine County, installed in 1956, is deteriorating, needs extensive maintenance. Replacement of both crossings will enhance fish passage by eliminating barriers and increasing access to habitat.
