The Twin Falls Planning and Zoning Commission has turned down a request from a Twin Falls Church to take over a building in downtown Twin Falls for church services.  The 4 to 2 vote denied the request from Magic Valley Bible Church to begin using the former Cain’s Furniture building, a long time landmark of downtown,  located on Main Street.  The reason?  The church may not be conducive to other downtown Twin Falls activities.  Another concern was parking for the expected 150 attendees.  The commission was also concerned that by having a church in that location it could affect other events and establishments since according to Idaho Code, alcohol licenses cannot be issued to premises within 300 feet of a place of worship.  The church pastor, Greg Morton, says the church may appeal the decision to the Twin Falls City Council.
