The following information is from the Idaho Transportation Department:

TWIN FALLS – The Idaho Transportation Department wants drivers to be prepared to slow down and use caution on Kimberly Road beginning Thursday (July 25), as the roadway will receive a seal coat between Eastland Drive and 3400 East Road.

The work is the last piece of a district-wide sealcoat contract delayed due to city utility work during the past year.

A properly applied seal coat can add several years of service to the roadway by preserving the integrity of the asphalt and serves as a barrier to water and cracking. The surface also improves winter safety by adding roughness for traction on snow and ice.

When crews are present, the road will be reduced to one lane in each direction and a 35 mph speed limit will be in effect. Work is expected to be completed by Sunday with final sweeping and striping.

Drivers are urged to use caution in all areas of seal coating. Observing posted speed limits and increasing following distance between vehicles will reduce the risk of windshield damage caused by loose
gravel.

Knife River Corp., of Boise, is the contractor for this $1.26 million project.
