Romanian National Guilty of Marriage Fraud

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Romanian national who previously lived in Ketchum has reached a plea agreement on a federal marriage fraud charge. U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson says 31-year-old Ramona Alina Fenesan pleaded guilty Monday to unlawful procurement of citizenship. The plea agreement says Fenesan entered into a fraudulent marriage with a U.S. citizen in October 2003 for the purpose of evading immigration laws. Court records say Fenesan was granted permanent residence status in April 2004 and became a naturalized citizen in June 2007. Sentencing is set for Dec. 5 before U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill in Boise. The charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.
