Sawtooth National Recreation Headquarters to Offer Snowshoe Tours

KETCHUM, Idaho (KLIX) People will get the chance to get a guided tour into the Sawtooth National Recreation Area with snowshoes in the Wood River Valley. The SNRA will host family tours  Saturday January 28, January 28^th, February 18^th, February 25 and March 4th at 11 a.m., meeting inside the Visitor Center at 10:45 a.m.

We will explore animal tracks and enjoy fun facts about winter ecology,” says Susan Kranz, Sawtooth National Recreation Area Education Coordinator. “Using snowshoes will give kids a chance to investigate snowy habitats and discover what animals do in winter. We might find tracks leading to a home under a log, or witness a chickadee nesting in a tree.”

Anyone under 12 years old will be free while adults will pay $5.00 for a Blaine County Recreation District snowshoe pass. The SNRA asks people to sign up and register soon to reserve available snowshoes. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Plan on an hour for the tour which will go three quarters of a mile to a mile in length. Waterproof boots are encouraged along with warm clothing. Bring snacks and water.
