Many shoppers started the day after Thanksgiving and haven’t stopped since.  Many stores slashed prices 40 to 75 percent Monday, while other stores opened as early as 5 a.m., all in hopes of luring customers in.  According to shop analysts, the last week of December could account for as much as 10 percent of all holiday sales.  Shoppers and retailers are busy ringing up the sales before ringing in the New Year.  The Monday after Christmas is expected to be the third busiest sales day of the year, trailing the day after Thanksgiving, and Friday, December 23, according to ShopperTrak, which measures retail and mall foot traffic.
