Snake River Jump Lease Includes Airspace
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- The airspace above land for a possible landing site for a jump across the Snake River Canyon is included in the state lease. An Idaho Department of Lands document indicates the winner of the lease has rights to airspace above the land.
According to the document sent to Beckley Media, LLC question have come up to the department about the rights to airspace above the land intended as a landing site. Beckley Media won the bid to lease the land for $943,000 in the public auction process.
According to the document signed by Kathy Opp, Deputy Director of the Division of Lands and Waterways, it states
“The Jump Lease includes the leased state lands and airspace. It is subject to the state’s non-conflicting use and the right of any preexisting state lessee whose use of the leased lands is not inconsistent with the purpose of the Jump Lease. The Jump Lease is intended to authorize Lessee to control the leased lands and airspace, including the placement of cameras and other electronic devices to the exclusion of any other persons or entities who might seek to use the leased state lands or airspace in the competing jump over the Snake River during the term of the Jump Lease.”
Tonight the Twin Falls City Council will hear presentations from six of the seven groups that want to jump the Snake River Canyon from the historic Evel Knievel site. The public is also encouraged to make comments. The meeting begins at 4pm at O'Leary Middle School.
