Sandbags are being handed out in Heyburn as the Snake River creeps closer to several neighborhoods. Minidoka County Sheriff Kevin Halverson says the River is a foot away from flood stage. He says residents are doing all they can to prepare for the worst.  The last time  Heyburn saw potential flooding like this was 14 years ago.  Gov. Butch Otter has declared a statewide emergency in anticipation of a bad flood season. The declaration allows state agencies to respond quickly to help cities and counties prevent flood damage.
