CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — A 19-year-old southwest Idaho man who killed a passenger when he crashed a stolen pickup truck has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Sean Begin received the sentence Tuesday in 3rd District Court and must serve at least two years before becoming eligible for parole. Begin pleaded guilty in February to vehicular manslaughter, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death, and operating a vehicle without the owner's consent.

Police say Begin lost control of the stolen vehicle in December when he hit a patch of ice. Seventeen-year-old Dante Wilcox died in the crash. Police say Begin, a 16-year-old and two 15-year-olds ran away before emergency responders arrived.
