TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – There’s still time to apply to the Medical Assisting program at the College of Southern Idaho. The fall semester begins Aug. 22 – but applications must be in by Aug. 1.

Certified medical assistants are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease in the doctor's office and often explain the physician's instructions, according to information from the college. Responsibilities usually include, among other tasks, clerical duties, insurance billing and coding, and assisting with minor in-office procedures.

It's a profession that is expected to see steady growth over the next several years. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of medical assistants is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2020, the news release reads.
