BOISE, Idaho (KTVB) -- After a journey that took it halfway around the world, the USS Boise is home. The USS Boise submarine returned to its home port in Norfolk, Virginia on Friday.

The Los Angeles-class attack sub was deployed to the U.S. Central Command's Area of Responsibility, with stops in Oman, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Greece and Spain. Sailors were at sea during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

The Boise was commissioned in November of 1992. It's the second naval ship to be named in honor of Idaho's capital city. The first was a light cruiser that was part of the Pacific Fleet during World War II.
