Suspended CSI Players Receive Suspended Sentences

Two College of Southern Idaho men's basketball players have received suspended sentences after pleading guilty to frequenting a place where illegal substances are present.  The Times-News reports Jerrold Brooks and Luke Cothron were sentenced to a year on probation Tuesday. Fifth District Magistrate Judge Roger Harris also sentenced them to complete 20 hours of community service and pay nearly $200 in fines and court costs. Brooks and Cothron were initially charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in March, after being found in a car filled with white smoke. Officers also found marijuana in the car. Both apologized before their sentencing. The arrest happened three days after Brooks helped CSI win the national junior college basketball championship. Cothron was a recent recruit. Coach Steve Gosar suspended both players indefinitely after their arrests.
