TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – The city of Twin Falls has been recognized with two awards by the Chicago-based Government Finance Officers Association – the Distinguished Budget Presentation and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

The awards are given to governing bodies that satisfy national guidelines that determine how well a budget serves as a policy document, a financial document, an operations guide, and a communication device for the entity.

"The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is like a report card for our budget documents,” CFO Lori Race said in a prepared statement. “It shows our commitment and spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate our financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR.”

The city’s Finance Department spends a substantial amount of time drafting and communicating through the audited financial documents, the city says, including an introductory section, financial section and a statistical section.
