The students in the welding classes at the College of Southern Idaho have been concerned for the past two weeks if they would actually be able to get their certification upon graduation.  The two certified welding instructors at CSI, Kent Parish and Juan Martinez,  have been on paid administrative leave since early this month.

Permanent employees at the College of Southern Idaho will be getting bigger paychecks starting in July.  The CSI Board of Trustees voted yesterday for a 2-percent salary increase, the first since 2008.  CSI employees received a 3 percent salary increase in 2008 along with a $300 bonus to help offset the increase in medical insurance and the received a one-time 2 percent bonus last fall... Saturday afternoon, family, friends and a community remembered Army Staff Sergeant Daniel Brown, a Jerome soldier killed by enemy explosives in Afghanistan two weeks ago.  Over a thousand  people gathered with them for his funeral service at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls.  Brown was killed 10 months into deployment.

The dual credit program at the College of Southern Idaho for high school students is gaining popularity every year.  According to the Times News, this year more than 1500 high school students are enrolled in the dual-credit classes.
