State Seeks More College Grads

(AP) - The state Board of Education is gathering input from the public on a campaign to double the number of Idaho adults between the ages of 25 and 34 with a college degree or certificate. Trustees are expected to review the Complete College Idaho plan at a June meeting. Board spokeswoman Marilyn Whitney says trustees will first accept public comments through May 15.

(AP) - Students at Idaho's public universities will pay $274 to $356 more in tuition next year. The increases approved Wednesday by the state Board of Education are relatively modest compared to those set in recent years as the universities looked to offset declines in state funding.

(AP) - Idaho climate experts say some record-setting weather in March has put the state's rivers and aquifers in great shape heading into summer. National Weather Service meteorologist Jay Breidenbach said Thursday March storms saturated central and northern Idaho. But they largely avoided much of the state's southern half.

Tax Deadline Nears…Are You Ready?

Taxes are due next Tuesday which means procrastinators still have some time left to figure out if they can get a bigger refund.  Every year thousands of Idahoans rush to file their taxes to meet the deadline. This year it's on April 17.  The Idaho State Tax Commission reports that nearly half of individual tax returns have yet to be filed.  Tax preparer Tom Brown says you might want to watch out for a couple things that often get overlooked when doing your taxes.

Personal Income Rises In Idaho

(AP) - Personal income in Idaho  jumped 5.4 percent from 2010. That's three-tenths of a percentage point higher than nationally and ranks Idaho 11th. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis says significant growth in net earnings drove the increase.

Idaho Legislature Adjournment May Hit Snag

The Idaho Legislature is moving closer to ending the session.
