Jerome County Deputies Arrest Theft Suspects

The Jerome County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrests of five suspects allegedly responsible for more than 50 theft cases in the county from October 2011 to February 2012.  Jerome County deputies arrested Branden Galbreath, Nikolas Maria and Jorge Banuelos along with two juvenile males.

Jerome County Beefs Up Ordinance For Chicken Farms

Fearing a possible influx of warehouse poultry farms to the area, Jerome County officials are taking steps to regulate such large-scale operations.  A few years ago California changed the rules for large poultry farms to the point that many thought would run some of the large operations out of the state to others with lesser binding regulations, such as southern Idaho.

Event Planned For Fallen Jerome Soldier

An event will be held in Jerome later today in memory of U.S. Army Sgt. Daniel Brown.  Sgt. Brown died in Afghanistan Saturday when an IED exploded.  He was 27 years old.  Sgt. Brown  leaves behind a wife and  3-month old twin daughters.  The event will be held in the Jerome City Park at 5:30 this afternoon.

Supplemental Levies Pass In Magic Valley

Tuesday was a good day for school supplemental levies in the Magic Valley.  Hansen School District voters passed a $190,000 levy for one year.  Kimberly voters approved a $300,000 levy with 69% voting in favor.  Murtaugh

Six School Districts Asking For Money Tuesday

Voters in six school districts in the Magic Valley will be going to the polls to decide on supplemental levies.  The Cassia County School District is asking for just over $681,000 per year for two years.

The money goes into the school district’s general fund.  Hansen School District is asking for a renewal of its annual $190,000 levy.  Voters in the Jerome School District will vote on the renewal of an annual $650,000 levy which will go into the general operating budget and will not be used for facilities.

More Arrests Expected In Jerome Robbery

We told you yesterday about the two Jerome men who had been arrested for the armed  robbery of the Wendy’s Restaurant in Jerome in January.  Yesterday, 20 year old Taylor Cnossen and 20 year old Branden Galbreath, both of Jerome, were arraigned in Jerome County’s 5th District Court.

Suspect Arrested After Jerome Standoff

A 43-year-old Jerome man arrested after a nearly nine-hour standoff with law officers is charged with aggravated assault after shots were fired outside a Jerome bar. The Times-News reports Rogelio Mendoza also is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and restricting or obstructing officers.

Standoff Suspects Arrested In Jerome County

Two men and a woman are behind bars in Jerome after a Sunday morning standoff that lasted several hours. The standoff started at 2 a.m. at a home at the intersection of Elm Street and D Avenue. It ended with the arrest of the three individuals at about 11 a.m.
